A survey on health status change of the residents in community health post area


Abstract
This study was made to produce basic data for successful primary health care services and nursing practices for nursing students in the community health post area by identifyi-ng health status change of residents and influencing factors upon it.
For this purpose the baseline survey for community diagnosis was done in 3 area- with ¡Æ760 families before community health posts were built and reassesments with 173 fa ilies .randomly sampled were done 3 years later.
The results were as. follows
1) The mean number of family size shows 0. 5 person decreased in post survey an. rate -of medical security were 37.5% (13% increased than baseline survey), but it is still under the average national level of 49.9%.
2) Environmental hygienic status of rural areas was improved in general and.tap ater
-supply rate increased from 66.7% to 81.0% But family density per room and insanitary sewer system still showed no change. Vault privy was most common in both surveys.
3) The rate of medical care utilization generally was increased, especially most co ~mon
primary visit changed from drugstore (64. 3%) to community health post (69.4%).
4) Taking drugs or foods for health protection for themselves were increased to 3%8%

{23.5% in the baseline survey), but vitamins, other nutritional regimens and herb medicines -were much less used in the post survey.
5) Almost of residents perceived that patient care and treatment were community health
practitioner¢¥s most important task and 72.3% suggested community health practitioners ere necessary for them. But 52.4% complained of community health post closed because of -none-clinic activities.
